You'll have easy access to year round outdoor activities. Winter visitors can downhill, snowboard, cross-country ski, and snowshoe, while summer travelers can kayak, stand up paddle board, fish, swim, and hike. You'll also be under a mile from the market, cinemas, and restaurants for plenty of conveniences. Only 15 mins from historic downtown Oakland, MD with cute antique shops and more food options, anything else you may need is available at Walmart, Lowes, Ace Hardware, Auto Zone & more.

We thank you for renting our lake & skii home.  We hope you will find it as you expect it. We would appreciate you and your guests' cooperation in a couple of areas that will make your stay safe and enjoyable.  These will also keep our home in the condition that you expected for our next guests.

  • If you come from the VA/MD side: From Hwy 219 (Garrett Hwy), Turn right onto Roman Ridge Road, right before the Brenda’s Pizza shopping center then curve right to get up the hill. Turn left onto James Way/Jeffrey Ln. The house will be on the left and there are 3 parking spots designated for us right at the end of the road before you have to turn. We are in between Uno and Wisp.

    The House:

    • Lake view and mountain view. You can see the stunning view of lake almost from anywhere in the living room and our back deck.

    • We are right above Brenda’s pizza. Walking distance to the water.

    • 5 mins from Uno, boat rental, creamery, 5 mins from the state park, 7 mins from wisp and the busy area. 

    • Fast Wifi. Suitable to virtual learning/video chat/Skype/Team/Zoom

    • Smart TV

    • There is an outside gravel area in the parking lot where you could throw frisbee or football around

    Check-in: 4 pm |Check-in Instructions and Polite Housekeeping Requests. 

    • Use the keypad lock entry code above for the front door. Press the Yale button firmly, enter your code, and press the blue check button. When leaving press the Yale button to relock.  

    • We all love to enjoy the mountains and hiking in the Smoky Mountain National Park, but it can be a dirty day. Please remove excessively dirty shoes before entering the house. The front entrance has benches and shoe shelves for your convenience.

    • You can leave all the linens, bedding, and blankets as they are. You do not have to make the beds.

    • Place all used towels in the bathrooms.

    • Remove ALL food from the refrigerator and dispose of it properly. Please empty liquids before placing containers in trash bags.

    • Trash must be bagged, tied, and placed in the garbage bin in front of the house. No loose trash in the bin. Ensure the trash can is shut with the carabiner in place to protect from animals. If there is an abundance of trash, please leave excess trash bags in the kitchen. For bear safety, there should not be anything outside of the bin.

    • Please wash all remaining dishes and put them away.

    • Grill: You don’t have to clean it, just shut it after you’re done using it. If you run out of propane, please send a text to Annie (contact information below).

    What We Provide:

    • 1 bath towel + 1 hand towel + 1 washcloth per guest

    • A few starter rolls of toilet paper in each bathroom

    • A few starter rolls of paper towels

    • Linens and blankets

    • Hair blow dryer & Iron

    • Trash bags

    • Dish pods, detergent, brushes and sponges

    • Laundry pods

    • Fully equipped kitchen of the most common housewares

    • Refrigerator, Electric Stove, Microwave, Keurig Coffee Machine (with a few pods to start you off), Traditional Coffee Maker (filters and coffee needed), Drink Blender, Toaster, Hand Mixer and Rice Maker

    • Gas Grill with gas and grilling accessories (Look for the black zipped case in the bottom drawer in the kitchen)

    • Snow Boot Dryer

    What To Pack (Or Grab in Town):

    • Extra towels

    • Toiletries (shampoo, conditioner, body wash, etc.)

    • Water toys

    • Outdoor toys

    Safety and Security:

    • FIRES ARE OUR ENEMY.  

      • Fireworks are prohibited from houses, decks, and yards.  

      • There are to be no bonfires or fire rings or open fires of any kind.

      • The fireplace in the house is gas only

      • Fire Extinguishers are located in the kitchen and laundry closet. 

      • There is NO SMOKING allowed inside the home. If you smoke outside on the decks, please properly dispose of the butts after completely extinguishing.  Please do not leave doors open while outside smoking. 

      • Please be careful using the gas grill. Grilling accessories included to clean the grill in between uses

    Pet Friendly Rules:

    • We are happy to share our cabin home with your furry loved ones for a small additional cleaning fee and with a few rules to ensure their safety and that the home remains in good condition for the next renters.

    • A $100 dollar per pet charge up to two pets must be paid prior to your arrival to receive your access code. 

    • Breed and size restrictions do apply, please contact us for more details.

    • We happily provide plenty of dog bags and guests must pick up after their pets and place the bag in the trash bag

    • Please keep them on leash in the neighborhood 

    • We understand accidents happen. There is Resolve pet cleaning supplies under the kitchen sink. Please report any significant damage asap. Discovery after you leave may result in forfeiture of your deposit. 

    • When taking your pets out at night please remember you are in a cabin in the woods and bears or other wild animals could

    It is the renter’s responsibility to explain these rules to their guests and to abide by these rules. Any failure to perform each check out task required could forfeit your deposit. Significant damage and destruction could result in additional charges beyond your security deposit. 

    We understand that accidents happen and will try our best to be understanding. We will also try to correct any failures of the above promises on our part as soon as possible during your stay. Please contact any of the numbers below as soon as possible if you run into any trouble:

    WINTER GUEST WARNINGS & DISCLAIMERS: AWD/4WD only from Nov-March. With these great views come a steep driveway. Therefore when winter weather conditions are possible, the entrance of the driveway will be plowed, ice & snow melt will be provided and parking only at the bottom of the driveway and using the hand-railed path to get to the house is required. There is space for 2 cars. Parking at the top of the driveway when snow and ice is AT YOUR OWN RISK. Plowing and towing services are available but at your own costs and we cannot guarantee how fast they can get to you.
